Picked up a few six-packs on the cheap at the brewery.

A cloudy, light gold with a billowing white head in a hefeweizen glass -- looks spot on. First whiff is full of banana. Flavor is mild and wheat with nice carbonation. Pretty smooth. The banana note carries through with citrus flavor and a slightly spicy and grassy finish. Definitely to style. Medium-light body.

Really nice warm weather brew and a nice take on a classic style.

32 ounce growler from Kroger on Tap in Roanoke.

Lightly hazy effervescent golden yellow with a 1 finger white head that rapidly recedes to a thin layer of foam and a ring around the glass. Virtually no lacing, even on the second harder pour that yielded a scant 2 finger head.

Banana, cloves and citrus on the nose. Lemon is more evident early on the second pour.

Banana and clove dominate the taste as well, with the addition of tart lemon and a bit of citrus peel, maybe even a bit of caramel. A hint of bubblegum at one point.

Light to moderate in feel with a peppery bite. Drying in the end.

A rather pleasing beer. Leading flavors and aromas are forward, but not overpowering, allowing supporting characters to shine through. Mouthfeel adds interest as well. Very quaffable.

Appearance: Light golden body that it is a bit hazy. It starts off with a moderate head but it doesn't last long. Pretty poor head retention for a Hefeweizen. The beer has moderate spotty lacing but again there isn't much head to contribute to the lacing. When I think of a Zephyr I imagine thick billowy clouds which is not what I get from this beer.

Aroma: It has a nice cereal sweet smell. Very light bubblegum aroma that is pleasant and gives a good scent without being overpowering.

Taste: It has a very good grain flavor. Very fresh tasting flavors. It has a taste that just makes you want to drink more of it. I don't get that tangy flavor that I usually get from a wheat beer. The aftertaste has a bit of a grain husk flavor and a touch of bubblegum.

Mouthfeel: It is nice and smooth without being too full bodied or dry.

Overall: It is an enjoyable Hefeweizen but I do wish it had a more commanding appearance that Hefeweizens are known for. I would recommend it based on its flavor profile under the provision that you can get it fresh. It is a nice enjoyable beer.

Poured a cloudy gold body with one finger head that died quick. Aroma is airy, delicate, has a slightly citric, lemon peel with peppery spice and slight yeast twang. Beer is light bodied and citric sharpness is strong but enough wheat twang to keep beer smooth and give off a little bubblegum sweetness. Finishes dry and spicy and has a good edge to it.
