Brown with two fingers of thick and lasting tan head. Dark malt dominates the aroma, bready with some cherry notes and a slightly sour tinge cut by dry yeast and just a touch of bitter hops. The taste follows the nose, with somewhat-nutty, somewhat-fruity malt exhibiting chocolate as it warms, a little yeast and modest hop bitterness for balance. Medium bodied. Not a bad example.

22 oz bottle poured into a stemmed glass.
Poured almost black, darker than expected.
Almost drank like a stout with subtle chocolate hints. I enjoy the doppelbock style because of how smooth the beer is.

Poured a brown body with one finger white head with little lace. Caramel/toffee aroma with hint of graininess I always get in layers, plus possible dark fruits like raisins/plums and dark/bitter chocolate. Smooth, medium bodied, I like the balance between raisin/fig/dark fruits (mostly raisin) and caramel/toffee (either or both to my tastebuds) as well as a creamy, milk chocolate vibe. Not overly sweet thanks to mild grainy dryness/hops but a subtly sweet beer that is enjoyable.
