Deep brown, bordering on black, with a moderate, finger-ish of lightly foamy tan head. The aroma has nice chocolate, with a little bit of earth and a little bit of grains. The taste is a little more one-dimensional, with mostly deep roasted malts dominating the flavors. The body is light and it would have a dry finish except for the persistent carbonation from start to finish.

I don't see an actual date on the bottle but it does say "Release: 2016."
Appearance: Black body lending some hints of dark brown as the light passes through. It has a thick creamy head that is a medium shade of khaki. Very good head retention. Lacing all the way down the glass.
Aroma: Acrid burnt wood and some burnt coffee.
Taste: It has a mild touch of charcoal along with some coffee flavor. It has a mineral flavor as well that I can't quite place. The only way I could really describe it is if you have had water that was unfiltered and just had a lot of minerals in it. I wouldn't say that overall the flavor is good or bad it is just floating in the middle somewhere in the range of average.
Mouthfeel: It does have a nice slightly slick mouthfeel at first but it finishes a bit too dry.
Overall: I didn't think this was that great of a beer. At some times while drinking this Oatmeal Stout I would think "yeah it's pretty good" and then I would catch an odd flavor here or a bad finish there and it would yank me in the opposite direction. It's not a beer I would buy again and I would recommend a host of other beers before getting to this one. On the positive side the beer looks absolutely fantastic but unfortunately that's where the joy ride ended.

Poured a brown to black body with minimal head and lace. Aroma is a mix of roasted malts and roasted/toasted oats. Medium bodied beer that is smooth and woody thanks to oats and had this burnt malt profile behind the oat aspect. Minor bit of chocolate sweetness seems to be evident on backend that balances with dry woodiness.
