Poured from the bottle into a wee heavy glass. Ironclad Series, vintage 2017.
Good rusty and robust copper orange body color. Little bit of plentiful carbonation as it sits, but also a good solid light tan foamy head on the pour. A solid three fingers, but a little bit of quick dissolve slightly too. Settles to a good bowled crown and puck, with very fine hints of foam and cream. Nice looking Scotch Ale.
Aroma is solid if a little basic. Light hints of toffee like malt, an almost bit of grass like hop bitterness. A bit of a wet sensation on the nose as well ever so slightly. Just a possible faint hint of medicinal bitterness.
Very unexpected palate. Intense creamy mouthfeel, rich and full of light thick vanilla, and strangely a bit of banana like quality. Rich malt density in the mid palate, soft buttery caramel and toffee pleasing. A bit of surprising bitterness on the finish, which makes for a nice cut in the thick malt body and flavor. Hints of large raspberry and fruit berry tones as well.
Real pleasing scotch ale.

I tried this at the brewery with my boss. This was a the Discovery aged in single malt copperfox whiskey. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that did not leave any lace. The scent had strong bourbon presence. The taste was leaned sweeter but was easy to drink. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a solid beer.
