From the bottom of the can: "02/28/2020 09:00"
Appearance: The body is black with a dark brown appearance at the edges. The head is extremely large and khaki in color. It has very good retention but not much lacing.
Aroma: Coffee aroma comes through at first when at a distance. A ton of carbonic acidity makes it through on the nose which is strange. Some mild burnt toffee notes. The strong CO2 on the nose really detracts.
Taste: There are some hints of dark chocolate and very burnt wood or carbon flavor. It has a strange tart acidity in the middle. There is moderate sourness in the middle. The finish is a tad woody with more carbon.
Mouthfeel: The beer feels overly bitter and syrupy on the tongue. It just isn't pleasant to drink.
Overall: It wasn't a pleasant drinking experience. The can stated that this was an "IMPERIAL ANNIVERSARY STOUT AGED IN IRISH WHISKEY BARRELS" and it was a let-down. The barrel note was not present, the Irish Whiskey was not present, and the beer as a whole just was not good. I wouldn't drink it again or recommend it.
