Aug. 2012: 330 ml bottle, a gift. ABV is 8.5%. Very dark brown colour, excessively huge and lasting beige head. Strong sweetish aroma, notes of pear drops, brown malts, brown kandij sugar, caramel, dark dried fruits and nuts. The flavour is sweet but not extreme, malty and nutty with plenty of brown kandij sugar and caramel, balanced by moderate hops in the finish. Quite enjoyable.

Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Very deep chestnut red-brown, pours clear with a 7-8mm mid-tan ultra fine bubble creamy looking head. ps @ +10mins, the head holds extremely well on the way down.
S- Notably malty.
T- Solid malt with equally solid trad hops following on behind and into the finish.
F- It's big and deep, trad, clearly heavily meaty.
O- Comes over like a Belgian Strong Ale... hmmm. Ideal for slow-sipping in winter. Too 'big' to rush any time of year. This is arguably perhaps over-pungent (boldly flavoured) and hence lacking much identifiable detail within it.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! --> It is a 'Dark Ale' and it is from Belgium. 8.5% ABV.
330ml bottle BB: 23/11/2022 Euro2.95 Bought from BeerMania/Belgium as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

Pours mightily dark with a small tan head from the 75 cl bottle that comes with a wired on cork. Malty smell hits the nose pleasantly. Smooth tasting and enjoyable.
