The Oktoberfest Lager by Quidi Vidi is a welcome release in the Newfoundland market where selection is on the low side. This beer is a very good attempt at an Oktoberfest albeit a little different from others I've had.
When poured from the bottle the beer comes out a nice light brown orange with a tan dense foam that forms over the course of the pour.
The aroma is a complex mixture of malts leaning a bit on the caramel and honey tones with a nice brewing aroma like the aroma in the brewery right after mashing -in. Delightful.
On the taste, the same flavors push forward with very present malt characters that tend to stay on the sweet side of things. The biggest deviation to other Oktoberfest beers I've had is that it has a sweet taste that other beers of the same style dont have. With a slightly lower mouthfeel then expected it finishes fast and moderately crisp.
The beer is a treat and a nice seasonal to look forward to in the fall... if they ever brew it again.
