If it weren't for a somewhat nibbling carbonation on the mouth, this beer would be about as smooth as it gets. As far as flavor goes, it's pretty nice. A pretty consistent deep tone is present. There isn't a lot of variation in the profile, but it all works. There is a nice hoppy/spicy tone from the rye, of course. Overall, this is a nice beer. Easy to drink with a smooth profile. Suggested.

Growler from Brewery: This one pours an opaque, almost black dark brown color. There was a bit of a dark tan head on it that lingers awhile and leaves some lacing. The aroma is quite nice. Roasted malts, hints of chocolate, coffee and definitely some rye. Slightly slick mouthfeel. Interesting mix of tastes. Roasted malts, rye, some chocolate. Somewhat dry slightly spicy finish. Alcohol is well hidden. A very nice variation of an Imperial Stout. Nice!

On tap at Bocktown on 02/14/2011.
Brought to the table in a sinfter. The pour formed a single finger of dark tan head which slowly receded as the drink was consumed. The body is dark black/brown...oil-ish.
The nose is a mixture of grains and coffee with a little dark chocolate thrown into the pot. Roasted malts are in the background.
Hmmm...this is much more complex than I thought it was going to be. The first flavor to hit your tongue is the rye graininess. This quickly turns into a roasted middle where the malts and coffee flavor battle for dominance. The finish turns to a sweet cocoa flavor that comes on surprisingly powerful. Lots and lots of layers to digest.
Medium bodied, oily up front with a rather dry finish.
Not sure on the ABV, but this one is going down easy. Complex and tasty...this is my favorite offering from this local brewer. I am very impressed with this one.

Full Pint Rye Stout has a dark brown body and a solid looking brown head.
The aroma is heavy on the rye, with light roasted notes to it.
In a blind taste test, I'm not convinced I would peg this one as a stout. Tons of rye makes up most of the flavor, adding spicy notes of rye bread. Underneath the rye is a bit of roasted malt and some sweetness. The finish has a moderate hop bitterness and a touch of citrus. A little bit of fruit in the background.
The body is about middle of the road, maybe a touch of the light side for a big stout.
I really would have liked a more even relationship between the rye and stout characteristics.

Pours a dark brown, to almost black with a small light tan head. In the aroma, big rye notes and just a hint of roasted malt. In the taste, nice big rye flavor, with hints of fruit and a small roast under the whole thing. A small bite and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry rye and a small hop in the aftertaste. Nice big rye notes, nice small hop in the aftertaste, but not much in the stout flavor.
