look: small tan coloured head which dissipates rapidly, beer is a dark opaque mahogany colour.
smell: smells absolutely delightful, very boozy, very vinous, vermouth, port, sherry, of course quite sweet, milk chocolate, treacle, dark malt aroma, meaty, caramel, hint of black bread, very exciting.
taste: very good indeed, way more bready malt than on the nose, brown bread, rye bread, meaty, unami, treacle, molasses, toffee, liquorice, but the vinous flavours dominate, vermouth, sherry, port wine, sweet wine, hint of that bourbon but really not too much, very noticeable presence of alcohol as you would anticipate, light to medium bitterness on the finish, vinous flavours linger, yummy.
feel: medium bodied, light carbonation, maybe just a tad bit thin, little bit of lingering bitterness on the finish, a tonne of alcohol warming obviously.
overall: a big complicated boozy beer here, one that is growing on me more and more with every sip, last beer of this terrible year is a good one.
