Bottle #149. Poured into a snifter, the beer is a hazy, opaque, copper coloring, with a halo of tightly bubbled, effervesced, white head. Nose of tart berry sweetness, subtle yeast funk, toasted grain backbone, and spicy oak highlights. Subtle dry red wine warmth throughout, too. The flavors are vanilla and spice forward, with a subtle toasted grain and blackberry tart backbone. Bordering on wheatwine characteristics, with a smooth and robust body. Spiced wood and merlot warmth build as you go. The aftertaste is more of the spice and booze warmth, with tangy and tart fruit notes. Smooth, warming, lingering finish, with a tart and tangy fruit kick. Big and tasty.

Appearance: Arrives with a cloudy copper color capped by a finger of foam; a few strands of lacing linger
Smell: Bready, with tangy blackberry tones
Taste: Toasted wheat bread with a smear of blackberry jam; tangy elements build, in the middle, with coriander and orange peel adding their elements; fruity, tangy and slightly peppery on the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation and a tangy aspect
Overall: An interesting twist on a wit; nicely done
