22oz bottle from Bruisin Ales (Asheville, NC). 17.25. Bottle 222, bottled 5/17/14. Served in a Cigar City teku.
Pours a hazy golden orange with a two finger cap of sand hued froth. Maintains a thin layer of head that laces well.
Smells of pine, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon and a vague sweetness.
Tastes piney and dank. Notes of pine, citrus peel, dankish onion/ garlic, oranges, mango, honey, biscuit, mild pepper and a little booze.
Sticky, resinous, medium full feel with moderately sharp carbonation. Dank and piney finish with notes of citrus zest, honey and a hefty bite of alcohol.
Nantahala's anniversary IPA is quite good but ultimately nothing elevates it above a host of other, more reasonably priced options of the style. There is a pleasing mix of big hop flavors backed with healthy dose of sweetness on a hefty malt body and I thouroughly enjoyed the bottle. I'd happily drink this again on someone elses dime but for roughly the same price as this bomber I'd rather have a six pack of Hopslam.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber color capped by an inch of foam that leaves quite a lot of dots and shards
Smell: Dank and resinous with pine, citrus and passion fruit tones
Taste: Honey and resinous flavors build from the outset, with pine, citrus and passion fruit flavors arriving in the middle; bitter and fruity, but sweet, in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: I like the hop bill but the beer is too sweet for my palate - likely from the addition of honey
