a really good example of this style here, classically made, and a nice introduction to this awesome little brewery in old town fort collins. its the perfect mix of dark and roasty earthy european malts and light crisp drinkability. there is a real nutty malt middle to this, more than just the roasted barley, and i think thats its real point of difference. it almost tastes woody too, like it saw some oak chips or something, but o dont believe thats the case. other than these subtle nuances, its right in line with what one should expect in the style. it has a very light body and a clean finish for a beer with this much dark malt. carbonation is maybe a step lower than i like it to be here, but its not way off. overall this wasnt the most inventive beer on the menu at equinox, but its nice to see some of these classic styles surface around town from time to time. there arent many of these out there right now, and this is a good one.
