Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a snifter, the beer is a ruby-highlighted black color, with a thin, off-white head. Nose of coffee, molasses, roasted notes, and baker's chocolate. Flavors are heavily roasted coffee, with a solid dose of cocoa in there, too. A lot of the more rich notes from the nose fail to make an appearance in the palate. Bitter and heavy throughout. The aftertaste is mocha, with highlights of chocolate, smoke, and coffee. Dry, bitter, lingering finish.
