First had: on tap at their brewpub

I love this style of beer, and while I have had better, this one was very good. Poured a dark, cola brown with a small, white cap of a head. Smell of dark roasty malts and piney hops. Looks like a dunkel or porter, and smells like an IPA...gotta love these. Roasted dark malts with coffee and cocoa tones, generously hopped, with notes of pine and grapefruit. Medium mouthfeel, finishes pretty dry and kind of bitter. Nice and drinkable.

Servesd on beer engine into an imperial pint glass at the brewery.

Antipodal is a nearly black IPA with just a bit of light passing through the edges. Good clarity seen with creamy white head and nice lacing.

Aroma is blend of citrus and piney hops combined with rosary malts.

The flavor is bold but balanced. A nice malt sweetness supports the generous hop additions.

Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with very low carbonation. It's so creamy and smooth on the beer engine tap.

Overall a great black IPA and definately worth a try if you stop by the Equinox brewery.

70 IBU with amarillo, simcoe, and cascade hops.
