First had: on tap at their brewpub
Poured a deep reddish-brown with a surprisingly thick and creamy white head, which was more than I'd ever seen atop a Scotch ale. Strong aroma of TOFFEE. Kind of one-dimensional, but it was still really nice. Taste was of sweet malts, caramel, toffee, and a touch of peat, and some hints of dark, dried fruits. Very very smooth for the style, and probably among the best Scotch ales I've had. Heavy-medium body, pretty syrupy, alcohol wasn't too overbearing, and actually quite subdued within the other flavors. Nice and very drinkable!
