An imperial brown.
Pours a clear caramel brown with a magenta hue throughout and a slight sandy brown head. Decent lacing left on the entirety of the glass. Aroma is sweet teasing of some cough medicine but fortunately never getting there; some dark pitted fruits of cherries and plums, raisin, pumpernickel bread, and caramel malt. Flavor offered a ton more depth and complexity than aroma led me to expect; started off sweet with lots of caramel, some dark pitted fruit and raisin, and some nuttiness, and then mid stream comes in some welcomed hoppiness providing a kiss of mild bitterness and a developing roastiness that offered some hints of coffee grind. A medium bodied, semi active mouthfeel. Overall, okay beer here that was very interesting but not quite as enjoyable for me. Could be a personal preference thing. Glad to have tried, wouldn't seek out again (but also wouldn't turn down if offered).
