This beer is the regular Black which is available in 33cl bottles and cask available only between October to April. They referment and re-badge the beer, unfiltered, into 75cl bottles for the Christmas period only.

Very dark brown, nearly black in colour, the tan head sitting proud on top.

Hops are Fuggles and the malts a blend of many, but mostly Pale Ale ones. The nose is fairly weak, some roasted/toasted/burnt malts being the main aromas.

Those malts mentioned in the smell give the flavours a burnt feel and adds to the bitterness from the Fuggles hops that the brewer wanted (in his quest to produce a Belgian 'Old Perculiar', with consultation with Theakstons).

Bottled 27th September 2010, drank and reviewed on 18th December 2010.
