thanks kirk (florida9) for this beer (i think).

a - opened the bottle and filled my capt lawrence taster tulip. beer pours a yellow orange with a thin cream colored foamy head. head hung out but lacing was non-existent.

s - interesting...kind of fruit juice crossed with american adjunct lager. all malt...smells pretty BMC. maybe a hint of brown sugar but that could just be me trying to remind myself that this is an amber/red lager.

t - yep...red lager. actually not all that bad. some brown sugar, lots of malt...somewhat earthy. nutmeg.

m - leaves a bit of a tingle. soft and light with a fizzy finish.

o - overall, i went into this with no expectations and it wasn't half bad. wasn't great, but it certainly is a red lager. probably a good crossover beer for a BMC drinker...but the step away is pretty minimal. very average.

I poured this 12 oz. bottle into a Nonic pint glass. I could not find a best by date.

A: clear honey gold color, an aggressive pour did not produce much of a head, the cap is scant but persistent, the lacing is decent.

S: roasted corn, a general grain aroma, the hop aroma is somewhat grassy, a mild earthy aroma.

T: very grain-centered up front, the middle has an earthy/herbal character, the finish has a mild grassy hop note.

M: light-bodied, lightly silky texture, moderate carbonation.

O: good, but not outstanding. I would like to try on tap at Quigly's.

looks impressive, robust dense head over a clear body, sticky lacing. Smells like grains and corn, which did not prepare me for the aweful onslaught of flavors that would ensue. Tastes like carbonated water that has been steeped in corn and left out for a week in the woods. There is a dirty musty flavor that is coarse and grating. Wow. no thank you. Don't buy this.

About to drain pour this.

According to the bottle, this is a California Common beer style, and brewed exclusively Quigley's Irish Pub in Naperville, IL.

Nice copper and bronze color with a small head but a nice long lasting film of foam.

Light grassy bitterness with some toasted biscuits and crackers.

Very malty front palate with some English like earthy bitterness slowly coming out in the middle and even more so on the finish. This bitterness gives the finish a dry mouthfeel at the end, while the front and middle have a gristy mouthfeel.

Pretty nice session ale with perfect flavors for an Irish pub.
