BIF trade item. 16 oz can poured into freshly purchased Ommegang glass.
Dark chocolate black with a fuzzy 2 finger head leaving lots of nice webby lace behind.
Nice roasty coffee aromas followed by slight chocolate and metallic coconut. Very slight caramel breadiness.
Impeccably balanced tango of roasty fruity coffee, day old chocolate, and warm coconut. This isn't going to blow your mind with sugary sweet flavors but this thing is BALANCED. Nothing takes control and everything works in harmony. If anything at the end some pot coffee comes in and overrules the rest, but by and large it's very fairly played.
Feel is a bit on the thin side but it's pleasant especially for a stout under 8% though it drinks more like it's 6%. Slightly creamy, moderate carbonation, biting and acidic with tickling roasty feels.
Overall pretty decent stout, kind of a wow thing when it comes to the balance, it's not easy to achieve. Very well done. Not going to blow your mind but this is a well-done beer with all three elements spotlighted evenly.

Pours black with a half inch mocha head that left some splotchy lacing. Smells predominately of roasted coffee with roasted malts. Tastes of strong cold brewed coffee, dark chocolate. Roasted malts, vanilla and barely a hint of coconut. Light bodied for a stout, smooth and creamy mouth feel. Very well done.

Tall can - 12/18/17
Pours near black and stout like, lift a large mocha cap and leaves nice looking fine ringed and spotty fields of lace.
On the nose its dark chocolate and rich coffee.
On the lighter/more drinkable side with respect to body.
Richly flavorful and pretty darn tasty with more chocolate and more smooth coffee notes, and yes I do get a hint of coconut...well crafted and well worth a try...more high quality brew from Barrier.....go get some

Black bodied stout with tall dark foam head, trailed some creamy lace behind... Features Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee, coconut and cacao nibs... Overall character reflective of those ingredients, presented dark, dry roasted coffee and bittersweet cocoa on the nose and palate, with milder herbal/sweet notes I'm going to attribute to the coconut... A medium-bodied, smooth, and mellow stout, more bitter and dry than sweet or rich... Canned 12/18/17...

A- jet black with creamy foam head
S- Coffee dominant, little bit of chocolate
T- oh dear....burnt coffee and chocolate, very little coconut to speak of, bit of a mess really, could and should of been much better
F- oh dear....again. Far too thin for a stout, zero body on this one, disappointing.
O- all the right ingredients were there, this should of been a stunner....how did they mess this up?

Seven plus years ago, a few weeks after the birth of my son, I got free for a few hours to sojourn with my buddy John down to a formerly unknown beer distributor down in Bellport, of all places. They advertised barbecued shark out front but also had a surprise inside in the form of a young brewer just finishing up an apprenticeship at Six Point in Brookyn. He had lots of samples and was ready to talk beer. A super friendly, ultra competent young man who talked of true quad IPAs and Belgian IPAs long before they became coomon place reality. I dedicate this review to this young man, who has made good on his substrantial promise.
This is all but jet black with creamy brown head and a heavy coffee and chocolate effect in the nose with substantial dissenting hop notes. Serious hops line the flavor throughout, with dark chocolate and coffee and chewy roasted notes. It might be my imagination, but coconut seems plausible considering the precision targeting otherwise on display.
Smooth and very well balanced. This is not a traditional deep stout but instead cutting edge stuff. Keep brewing, my boy. You done good.

Poured from a 16oz can into a Teku glass.
Look is pitch black with an off white head.
Lotta coffe and cocoa on the nose.
Taste is a discordant mix of coffee chocolate and a littl bit of coconut.
