Howdy neighbor, you've made it! You should have joined us years ago. Fresh cut grass is in the air and the cheerleaders are hosting a car wash up the street. I know it's a far cry from the bow ties, beards and beer cans with stickers. But between you and me, outside the Suburb, ain't what it's all hopped up to be.

Mildly cloudy pale yellow body; carbonation bubbles are rough and big while the head is thick, dense and creamy; sticky streaks of foam attached to the glass. Mild citrus aroma with a strong dose of white grape; a little sourness and some light bread notes. The taste brings a light toastiness to the palate with extremely subtle hop bitterness; very fine presence of grapefruit and lime, more pith-centered than juice; a tad bit of alcohol presence. Medium body; crisp and very dry on the palate with a very minor presence of tartness.
This is one of the more subtle American IPAs I've had in a while. The hops don't hammer you with intense citrus or pine notes like some offerings. The Nelson Sauvin hops bring an elegant bit of restraint and lightness to the beer. Very, very good...

2/20/18 canning of Barrier's latest release in their Suburb IPA series, each of which features a particular hop... It's super-easy to love the popular hops like Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe, but Nelson is one of the most elegant hops out there - turns beer into a fine wine... Kinda knew I'd like this before i had it - and guess what? I wasn't wrong!
Pale yellow haze of a body, thick finger or two of bright white head; lacing traced down the glass... As anticipated, suggestions of white wine grapes, white grape must, tangy yeast, unripe melon, lime zest, grapefruit pith, and green vines all work their way through... Soft, light and fluffy-feeling, with ample tingles and tang... Mild sweetness dries out quickly with a tart pucker, the bitterness keeping it held well in check... A superior beer - possibly my favorite in the Suburb line...

Looks like an ideal modern-day IPA: Murky greyish-yellow.
Smells of Barrier's funky yeast and tropical/orange hops.
Taste is unsurprisingly awesome: More sweet orange than bitter grapefruit and pine. Like all Barriers, free of caramel syrup taste and sloppy, oxidized bitterness. Helps that it's 11 days canned, of course, but Barriers never get bad after 3 months, they just get less good. Hops riding shotgun, with malts sitting in the third row. The Nelson is not the prominent hop taste or smell, by the way.
Feels a little thin/short, compared to the smell and taste, but that's kind of standard for the Suburb series, maybe.
I'm drinking it warm enough to feel everything, but it just doesn't have the long, oily mouthfeel that something like Money does. Medium head and lacing and fizz.
Overall, another deelicious Barrier bomb.
