Well, all right! Things are FINALLY back on track WRT my deep-dive into Barrier Brewing Co.! This was a VERY recent score at/from Hunger-n-Thirst last weekend before the quarantine set in. I had initially planned to really get at their many CANlaborations in my backlog for The CANQuest (tm), only to get bogged down at the outset due to many NOT having an approved pic in place. 8=( One The CANQuest's (tm) main tenets is to NOT Crack! open a CAN without an approved pic in place. Hey, I am capable & happy to do it, but I felt like I was blindsided by the sheer number (& thanks to the Admin team for all of the speedy approvals). Onward!
From the CAN: "India Pale Ale"; "Brewed with our friends Dry & Bitter[,] Mumford Brewing[,] Track Brewing Co"; "Paste Five of Ten Here"; "Six of Ten"; "Illustrated by Daniel F. Birch".
CANother misstep on their part! They should have reached out to John Smith's of Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England as makers of John Courage Amber to be a collaborator! 8=(
Finally, I am in the home stretch, beginning with this one & ending at Vol. 8. I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug to celebrate, but once again, my attempts at clarity were thwarted & I allowed it to flow freely into the awaiting glass. I was met with just under two finger of foamy, soapy, rocky, eggshell-white head that quickly fell to wisps. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose smelled of deja vu all over again, but with a twist. Sure, I got the usual Citra citrusiness and the Mosaic tropical fruitiness, but I swear that Simcoe the naughty kitty was in there doing her catty business! 8=O Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but on the approach. The taste had a pungent bitterness, much less sweet than the nose had led me to expect, beginning with a big grapefruit punch acCANponied by what was definitely Simcoe's cattiness. Phew! It actually made my eyes water since it was so unexpected. That may not sound at all pleasant, but to this self-described, self-avowed hophead, it was pure bliss! Yes, I still got the tropical fruit flavors creeping around, but it was much more muted than on the nose. Finish was appropriately bitter & dry & my hops jones beCAN to subside acCANdingly. YMMV.

Can: Poured a cloudy/hazy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of juicy hops notes with some nice hoppy floral undertones and light tropical notes is very pleasant. Taste is a great mix of juicy hops notes with some nice floral hoppy undertones with light residual sugar notes also perceptible. Body is full with good carbonation. Well brewed NEIPA with plenty of flavours and balanced residual sugar notes.
