$15 per bottle. Not worth it in my opinion

Pours a rich, translucent mahogany with a half-finger of head that fizzes away quickly. Treacle, black cherry, redolent malts, and a touch of crisp apple: this is a dessert brown for sure. Nails its concept, but with less bourbon and barrel character than most of Clown Shoes's aged bomber releases.

This seemed apropos to drink candy-like beer on Halloween, bottled 6/17/19

Pours a light bubbly small off-white head that fades quickly, low retention, a touch of lacing, decent legs, semi clear but dark almost murky like chestnut brown color

Nose is of course super sweet smelling, with loads of caramel and candi sugar, caramelized sugars of all kinds, toffee, and even a little butterscotch, some mild fruity esters, pome fruit, adding to a big candied and caramelized apple, fair amount of apple actually, also some vanilla, perfumey alcohol getting into hot tingly, faint bourbon oak

Taste brings loads of sweetness again, and loads of caramel and caramelized sugar of all kinds once again, however the alcohol really takes off and overpowers quite a bit, hot tingly alcohol borderline fusel which you can clearly taste raw alcohol, caramel candies, toffee, plenty of candi sugar and that raw fermented candi sugar that brings the fusel like alcohols, some fruity esters with more of that candied caramel apple, some smooth vanilla barrel notes and a touch of bourbon, but this tastes even hotter than bourbon typically does, some weird bitterness that seems to follow the alcohol, mild phenols from the alcohol coming through, drier but mild sticky finish, lingering alcohol mostly

Mouth is fuller bod, plenty of alcohol fusel flavors, but not a ton of burn somehow, lower carbonation as well

Overall this was a hot mess that was also very sweet, I expected the sweet but not the fusel alcohol that really overpowered everything on the taste and ruined the beer, plus the low carbonation and bitterness doesn't help, hardly even drinkable

Aroma is caramel, toasted caramel, some burnt vanilla, brown sugar and toffee. Some alcohol malt and what seems like orange peel
Taste is very similar to aroma with caramel, burnt caramel and brown sugar out front. Somehow it's actually not a candy bomb in flavor or sweetness.
This is more of a dessert or sip on a cool night beer vs downing a few after mowing the lawn

From the 22 oz bottle in a snifter. This beefy beast pours a
nice medium dark brown with thin orange cola highlights
and a decent head of off white foam that settles to a thick ring,
thin sparse layer, and shows light lacing. Nose of mellow bourbon,
brown sugars, and a touch of vanilla with some brulee notes. Flavors
follow the nose with bourbon and vanilla on all sides with a nice brulee
and a touch of orange pith amongst the bourbon with a hint of
oak. Decent mouth feel; medium body, a nice sipping low carbonation
brew, and a moderately dry lightly warming finish.

Is it sweet, yes---but nicely balanced. The original Burnt Caramel
I liked a touch better than this, but this is still solid.

Cheers

Smell- Maple, toffee, caramelized sugar, maybe a little bit of vanilla and a tinge of bourbon.
Taste- not too sweet, but the caramel, toffee, and toasted malt flavors kind of linger in the background with a well mellowed bourbon flavor. Incredibly smooth and drinkable for an 11% abv, and definitely one of the unique and better clown shoes bourbon barrel brews.

L- The beer pours a dark glossy brown. The head is a 2 fingers of mocha foam. This recedes to a thin film leaving no lacing behind.
S-The nose is strong in vanilla and caramel, consequently it's very sweet. It smells very much like a crème soda.
T-Up front you get the caramel. Once you get used to that then the vanilla takes over mid palate. It's sweet. Not as sweet as the nose thankfully, but still sweeter than I'd really like. There is bitterness present, but it never really takes over.
F-The mouthfeel overall is on the lighter side of medium. The carbonation is light. The beer finishes wet.
O-This one tastes more like a alcoholic soda than a brown ale. I find it enjoyable enough that I'll finish it, but I wouldn't feel compelled to purchase it again.
