American Imperial Stout aged in Jamaican rum barrels blended with Barleywine aged in bourbon barrels.

The hunt to kill the undead has driven Crasher through years of struggle and across the globe many times. Tonight the chase reaches a crescendo amidst a cacophony of course in the ghoulish orchestra hall. An Aries searing solo of destruction silences the nefarious symphony. The zombies and monsters will have to sing the blues. Oh wait. They can’t. They’re all dead again. Clown shoes head Brewer Dan Lipke has composed a decadently complex ode to Crasher's legend and music making victory. Finding a Jamaican rum barrel aged American imperial stout with a bourbon barrel aged barleywine ale, Undead Rhapsody provides a burst of rich flavors that compliments (sic) an undead Rhapsody that echoes from beyond the dark evening sky.

Clown Shoes Undead Rhapsody Imperial Stout aged in Jamaican rum barrels blended with Barleywine aged in bourbon barrels, 11% ABV. Listed on BA as an American Strong Ale. Pours very dark brown with a two-finger light brown head that left lots of foamy lacing. Nose is toffee, roast/char, light chocolate, and rum. Taste follows, plus bourbon and coffee/espresso, slightly sweet, slightly bitter roast and coffee. Very complex, flavors here I couldn't identify, and evolving as it warms. Most excellent mouthfeel, overall world-class. I'm not a barleywine fan, but I'm really liking this Cuvée. Love the stovepipe format too.

From the tall boy can in a snifter. This solid little ale pours a
dark brownish black with dark tea highlights, and a decent head of
off white khaki foam that settles to a thick ring, thin dusty layer, and
shows nice light lacing. Nose of bourbon, vanilla, dark roasted malts,
faint char, dark rum touches, faint oak, and subtle dark fruits. Flavors
exceed the nose with dark rum, brown sugars, bourbon, oak, char, light
coffee hints, vanilla, light cream, light char, definite brulee, and light
raisin and cherry touches. Nice mouth feel; medium full body, light
carbonation, smooth as silk, lightly coating, moderately warming, and
finishing subtle dry.

Overall----WOW

More goodness from the Clown folk!

Cheers

Single, very expensive, can from Jungle Jim's
1pint 3.2oz can, again, this wired size can... well, whatever makes you stand out I guess.
Pours a pitch black color, no light penetration whatsoever. Fingerthick brown head with fair retention.
Nice aroma with a dominant rum note. The taste is very much rum and bourbon with a sweet dark chocolate note.
Full body, a nice sipper.
A nice experience for sure!

Pint can into snifter

L- Black pour with a great light colored head, true sign of quality stout making. Decent lacing
S- Little boozy, bit sweet, nothing definite
T- Sweetness that gives way to a bit of roast before being overcome with a slight alcohol bite
F- Thickness that coats the mouth well, lingers a bit
O- I like these, bit expensive at almost $10 a pint but still a nice Imperial Stout that is a bit different than a the typical Bourbon Barrel variety

Good head production and retention for a double digit ABV blended brew whose constituent base brews are both barrel aged. Body is appropriately in between a barleywine and stout; it pours a dark, almost clear brown, but once it settles into thicker portions of the glass, it's almost a thick dark black.

Aroma leans strongly in the bourbon barrel aged barleywine direction. It's rich and boozy. Banana, coconut, bourbon, grass, vanilla, molasses. Not a lot of the stout tone, and I think the rum barrel confuses and muddles everything. It smells very good, but it's not easy to pick apart individual notes.

Similar on the palate, with a lot of banana coming through, and lots of bourbon, bringing along coconut tones. It's hard to find the rum. A bit of chocolate and molasses on the palate, as well as toast and some espresso tones. Some dark fruit as well, and light pepper.

Full bodied, warming, slightly boozy. Feels appropriate for the style and ABV.

This is a confusing beer. It's very enjoyable, but it's really difficult to describe in flavor terms. It's almost a boozy, slightly chocolatey, dark fruit ... thing. But a really good thing.
