Poured from a growler into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark brownish red with a fine, two finger light khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Looks nice. Aroma of dark biscuit malt, citrus hops, light stone fruit and a hint of smoke. Flavor is moderate toasted and biscuit malt, citrus and lightly piney hops, lemon, grapefruit, light pine; citrus rind bitterness and moderate toasted malt in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Hits the flavor notes for a Cascadian Dark IPA, but flavor density is a bit dialed back. Aroma has promising toasted malt and Northwest hop character, and both are present in the taste, but at a lower volume. Nice hop bill. Looks and smells good, need a little dialing in on the flavor. Probably one of the better ales here.
