This one is an American Porter with roasted chicory-root, and hence the name; Bistra Årens (in English; the harsh years); during the WWII the non-participating Sweden where still affected and put under rationing. The coffee was hard to get and people roasted the roots of chicory as a surrogate...
A: Pour is pitch black with some red hues. The rather small pale brown head is compact, almost like whipped cream. Decent lacings.
S: Roasted dark malts, with some flowery vanilla notes - probably from the chicory-root. Some coffee-like bitterness, but rather mild.
T: Hard roasted dark malts with loads of coffee-like notes. Flowery, almost perfume-like, but not in an unpleasant way. Vanilla. Dark bitter chocolate.
M: Long roasted kind of bitter aftertaste. Body is on the stronger side, considering the ABV, while carbonation is quite mild.
O: Interesting.
