A: The beer is very dark brown in color. It poured with a short off white head that left a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of nutty malts are present in the nose along with notes of sweetness.
T: The taste follows the smell and has stronger flavors of nutty malts with underlying hints of sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a classic example of an English Brown Ale that is dominated by malty flavors while being highly drinkable.
Serving type: can

This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Light messy lacing roamed around the glass. The smell had a superb blend of rich nutty malts with a light roasty smooth chocolate and ample coffee roaming in and out. The taste copied the aroma nicely to work over a gentle sweet rolling and roasty smooth, slightly smokey and light amount of cocoa. A lingering roasty smooth coffee/cocoa aftertaste leads to a balanced dry to wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a really nice sessionability to it. The carbonation rolled over nicely with a delicate sharpness. Overall, this was a really nice English Brown ale, definitely again.

Poured from the 22 oz. bomber into a Samuel Adams nonick.
a: Black with clear ruby highlights when seen through light. Inch tall offwhite head receded to thin surface foam and dense lacing.
s: Sweet coffee and dark malt
t; Some coffe flavor and caramel malt up front with mild hop balance. Sweet and bitter finish.
m: Light to moderate, good body, quite smooth.
o: A very drinkable, sessionable and tasty brown, ABV probably in the 4-5% range. A pretty good value at $4/22 oz. Unfortunately distribution seems to be very limited.

On tap at the brewpub on July 26, 2013. Sampled that night.
It pours an attractive medium amber to mahogany brown. Fizzy white head that disappears fast.
The aroma was pretty straight forward for a pale ale with a hop bite. There was a vague earthiness on the nose and a malt sweetness. Well balanced but no special characteristics.
The body is about medium.
The taste is similar to the aroma with a solid malt sweetness up front followed b low to medium hops. Overall, hops are played down like a traditional English IPA.
