There’s no log cabin in Riverwest unless you walk inside here. A first walkthrough of Black Husky Brewing will make you feel like you have walked through a thrift shop of decor with themes which don’t match; a log cabin feel at the bar, a wall covered with photographs of black huskies, a carpet on display covering another wall, a disco ball hanging from the ceiling, and a clutter of different objects behind the bar. Yet there are two things which people around come here for; the beer and the love of dogs. In fact, I saw four of five different dogs which patrons brought with the ; or is it the other way around?
The taplist is distinguishable with styles; it doesn’t follow trends with what’s hot or casts and molds the lists of others taprooms.12 different taps which hit from elderberry gose, Czech Pilsner, Double IPA, Southern Hemisphere IPA, Weizenbock, and even a Belgian Strong Pale Ale clocking in over 15% ABV. Check the online menu or the paper menu at the bar for prices; there’s also a short wine and cocktail menu for the non beer drinkers.
The beers are a little more coarse than newer breweries (Black Husky was founded in 2010, in Riverwest in 2016), however still a joy to drink. What I tasted took me back a decade, but in a good way.

Large taproom with a north woods log cabin feel. There is also a spacious patio for the warmer months. Quality of the beer was average to very good. Service was quick, friendly and helpful. Selection of eight to ten beers on tap. They also had a cooler with bombers for carry out.

Laid back log cabin atmosphere in the middle of Milwaukee's River West neighborhood. A little touch of up-north in the middle of a busy city during a long day in the gym for my son's volleyball tournament. Vibe and service were great and beer is exceptional. And there was an awesome husky pup roaming behind the bar. Love it. Going back soon.

Beautiful outdoor area and really nice inside as well. Just enough unique touches to make the space stand out from other taprooms (giant husky statue, a piano that you can play if you're got the skills, etc.) Solid taplist with good variety and even though they're best known for their IPAs their other beers are really good as well. In particular I loved their milk stout. Great, attentive and friendly service. Despite them seeming to claim that their brewmaster is cranky he showed up later with his wife and both were friendly and a pleasure to chat with. Great beer and great people.

Overall great addition to the neighborhood. I am a tad bias here because it is within walking distance from where i live. So glad they opened up down here....place has a northwoods log cabin type vibe and the people that work there are really friendly. One thing to note: it is bring your own food as they do not serve any (i think they have special food nights at times). As a bonus they have some serious sleeper beers that are just awesome.

I was pumped to finally visit BH's MKE taproom after drinking their beer for the past 6 years. Tim and company did not disappoint. The taproom is spacious, bright and inviting but needs a bit more in terms of atmosphere to come across as a truly polished destination. There is an outdoor seating area for warmer weather - a very nice touch. The beer quality is what you'd expect - topnotch. Sproose, Pale w/ Mosaic, Milk Stout and Howler were all excellent - the only disappointment of the night was their high ABV wheat beer called Harvel the Marvel. Service was attentive - Tim and his wife where very engaging and friendly as were the three servers. Overall this is a great addition to the MKE beer scene as Black Husky easily belongs on the list of one of the top breweries in the state.
