On-tap at Bir & Fud in Rome.
Pours black with a one-finger tan head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of roasted malts and mildly sweet oats. Also present are very light amounts of dark chocolate aromas.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Smooth roasted malt flavors kick things off and they are tempered by the slight sweetness of the oats. Midway through the sip hints of dark chocolate flavors make an appearance along with even lighter hints of earthy hops. The dark chocolate flavors fade a bit near the end of the sip before a moderately bitter ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.
Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass with no problems and could have another.
Overall this was a very well made beer - nothing exceptional but one of which I could easily have a few. Worth a shot.
