De Belgiuminabox. En copa Grimbergen. Haciendo examen A1 CCA. Cerveza belga oscura correcta, sin nada desagradable pero tampoco nada especialmente destacable. Se disfruta pero no emociona

Bottle rested for a week+ and chilled at fridge. I prized the cap gently and 'Phooof!!' the cap almost jumped off. I feared a geezer, but nope - just be prepared in case your cap pops like mine did :)
L- Deep chestnut brown, quite hazy (sediment lifted and entered the pour near the end, much more was left on base of bottle). Pours with 2Cm pale tan fine-bubble head, still 5mm high 15-20mins later and almost all beer gone - impressive.
S- Distinctly malty, unusually so. That's the main notable smell I get... plus perhaps a hint of chocolate?
T- It's notably malty but also has a deep roasty edge to it too. I like it, it would be lovely as a slow-sipping winter warmer.
I've poured this straight from the fridge, I'd suggest this beer style/profile especially benefits from being warmed a bit more than that, as I'd expect the flavour to open up fast with a touch less chill on it.
F- Deep, quite pungent, There is an evident richness, but balanced by a toasty punch to it, and a just about clearly noticable 7.5% ABV.
O- Not all Belgian Belgian brunes work for me as well as this. The *style* risks veering into outright sweetness, in my experience, this one is *nothing* like that. The balance is really well crafted. Lovely beer, notable for it's unusually prominent malts yet great balance. Super-malty yet zero risk of any outright sweetness, that's something quite unusual in itself. I'd very happily drink this again.
Bought from BelgiumInABox (Antwerp) for delivery to me in London/UK. 330ml bottle.
