Presentation: Sampled on draft at Barley’s Casino and Brewing Co. as part of a Sampler during a visit with fellow BA UncleJimbo. Listed on the brewpub blurb as 'Neon Light' and described as a Light Micro Lager that is 4.6 carbs and less than 95 calories per serving, its obvious that this beer has a clear purpose and position in the Brewpubs portfolio.

Appearance: Pale golden body, classic “Lite lager look” with a well carbonated torso that supports a decent enough white head - frothy at first but it soon relaxed.

Nose: Toasty grain malt nose that is very light in nature, nearby odors soon blanket the nose on this one though. A rather weak aroma in strength and even lighter in character.

Taste: Initial Lite lager implosion on the tongue, biscuit malts and a light biscuit grain finish with some delicate bitterness, thin but nevertheless this exhibits a clean profile.

Mouthfeel: Fizzy carbonated texture on the cheeks & tongue and in the swallow lends an average mouthfeel.

Drinkability: Easy going but just the one is fine for me.

Overall: A decent enough offering, but not being a fan of the style I find it hard it hard to get too excited about these Brewpub Lite-beers, they are after all usually made for the more none discerning drinker, you know the one that looks at all the beers on offer in the Brewpub, pauses after thinking then still asks for the one BudCoorsMiller offerings that they always ask for regardless of where they are, followed by the bartender saying the usual “we don’t serve BudCoorsMiller [delete as applicable] but this Lite is just as good…..want to try it??”

Not my usual selection or even favorite style, but I have to give credit for this Brewpub Lite is a clean drinking version that is still 10 times better than the beers it is supposed to substitute. Good enough to hopefully convert at least one BMC drinker one day.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub. Listed as 95 calories and 4.6 carbs per serving.

This light beer poured a clear, golden color with creamy, white foam that settled and clung to the glass, leaving some lace. There was a decent carbonation. The smell was minimal (this beer was served very cold) but notes of biscuit and grain were present. The taste was lightly malty with some biscuit and grain, but very low hops. Not bad at all for a light beer. The mouthfeel was smooth and clean with light body and medium carbonation. There was a bready flavor in the finish. This was a very decent light beer, and I rated it with the style in mind.
