Sample at the brewpub. This brew is a lightly hazed amber-orange color with a medium thin and creamy beige head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Light malt and grain aroma. Light, smooth body with a sweet malt character. Hint of caramel and hops, but it is a strain to find them. The finish is sweet and short with a weak malt aftertaste. Below average overall.

A friend of mine gave me a growler of this as a gift, having never visited the place I was excited. And before I continue I should say I'm not a huge fan of Amber/Red beers. Appearance was good. Nice amber in color, clear, and nice two finger head. Ok, retention and little lacing. Smell is good, strong malt presence, somewhat sweet. Taste is about the same, as expected virtually all malt and very little to no hops. It has a certain sweetness to it, but not overly powerful. Low carbonation and slightly thin mouthfeel. Overall not terrible, again not my favorite style but I can appreciate a good beer and this was good.

Sampled on-tap at brewpub in April 2006.

This Red Ale poured a clear, reddish-amber color with white foam that settled, and with low carbonation apparent. The smell was mildly malty with a hint of sweetness. The taste was nicely malty with very low hoppiness. There was a mild malty sweetness. The mouthfeel was very smooth with medium body and low carbonation. It was relatively clean overall. This was an easy-drinking Irish Red Ale, though not standing out in any category.
