Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a cloudy yellow color with a medium thin ivory white head that diminishes slowly. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Wheat and banana aroma with a touch of spice. Light, clean body with wheat, peat malt and sweet fruit flavors. The finish is mildly wheaty and thin with a touch of banana and spice aftertaste. Nothing worth coming back to here.

Consumed 05/11/08 during Brewfest 08 at Barley's Casino & Brewing Co., Henderson, NV.
Light yellow, unfiltered. A thin skin of foam.
Aroma of sweet wheat, cloves.
Strong wheat flavor. Some banana, tiny amount of clove.
I'm happy to see that the hefes in Vegas are primarily German style, but they're not world class.

I had this on tap at Barley's Casino east of the strip (way east). It was surprisingly clear (kristal weizen-ish?) for the style, and a pale straw color. The aroma was a proper hefeqeizen, with the usual cast of yeasty by-product characters (banana, clove, no bubbegume in this case), so it was pretty good. Not too strong a smell though, but still OK. The taste rates the same, very nice but not quite rich enough with the flavors. Easily drinkable, and a very good gateway beer to hefeweizens.

Visited Las Vegas on a business trip and had already mapped out the brewpubs that offered Hefeweizen. This was the first I stopped at and was not disappointed. Wonderful brew in all catagories, especially the one that matters the most to me, which is the taste. The only downfall is the smokiness of the place, which is a norm for Vegas, and the very limited food selection. Would easily recommend this brew to everyone.

Presentation: Sampled on draft at Barleys Casino and Brewing Co. as part of a Sampler during a visit with fellow BA UncleJimbo. Listed on the brewpub blurb as Boulder Gold Hefeweizen, and described as an Unfiltered Hefeweizen that is made with imported yeast.
Appearance: Rather thin looking in the sampler, a weak pale yellow body looks like it was actually partially filtered, but that maybe the effects of the short wide sampler. Decent enough white head with some solid carbonation all lend a good Hefe presentation though.
Nose: Bananas and Cloves. Not much else in this except the fruity banana traits so often experienced with the style. Average strength I guess, but nonetheless incredibly attractive.
Taste: Very fruity, luscious freshly peeled and sliced bananas in this one. The middle builds with a creamy clove feel and a light spicy dimension, but it remains a firm fruity Hefeweizen. Lots of fruity yeasts throughout, and well into the aftertaste. Very good this one.
Mouthfeel: Creamy feel, especially in the swallow in the aftertaste. Licks wit lots of fruity chewy banana character which balances well with the yeasty character all wrapped up and packaged nicely with a clove ribbon to add some pizzazz.
Drinkability: Damn drinkable, the taster was easily dispatched. Extremely quaffable and incredibly moorish.
Overall: Definitely one of the highlights from the Barleys portfolio for me, in fact this may well be their best Regular brew for my money such that if we would have had more time in here I would have finished with a Pint of this one. Far from a Gamble, this one is a dead cert.

This unfiltered hefeweizen poured a hazy yellow with good white foam that left lace on the glass. The smell was mild but fruity (bananas). The taste was fruity (bananas), with wheat and yeast flavors coming through. A very nice flavor. The finish had a slight aromatic character. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy and clean, with a nice finish, and some yeast flavor in the aftertaste. The drinkability was very good. I had more than one of these.
