This really is a lovely beer - I got the chance to enjoy the 2016 version during a quick ski trip. I love my Scotch Ales, so I was pretty pumped to try this one out. It looks nice - dark copper (almost ruby?) with light, frothy tan head. The key substitution in this version is cinnamon in place of peat, and I must admit that it is darn pleasant. Well suited for enjoy before , during, or after a day of playing in the great outdoors.

Appearance - Pours a dark copper brown with a finger width of foamy white head.
Smell - Caramel malts, biscuit malts, toffee, dark fruits, hint of vanilla and cinnamon spice.
Taste - Caramel and biscuity malts, along with a surprising spice blend of cinnamon and clove. Sweetness of toffee and dark fruits support the malt flavour.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall - A unique twist to the Scotch ale style with the inclusion of warm winter spices like cinnamon and clove. Excellent caramel and biscuit malt base to showcase these uncommon flavours.
