On tap at Tavern 1883 in Canmore, Alberta.
This one pours a dark brownish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells toasty mostly, with lots of breadiness and some light roast.
I’d want a bit more bite to this, but the toastiness and breadiness are very pleasant. There’s a touch of herbal bitterness, but the malt character is mostly sweet here.
This is light bodied, semi-creamy, and pretty drinkable.
I assume they’re calling this a black pilsner to give people a frame of reference, but it’s definitely a Schwarzbier.
