solid altbier here, more crisp than a lot of red ale types, yet still fully malt driven and with some sweetness, layered and rich, rather complex to me as these go, even without much yeast character, well made and professional, this place was a bit of a beer oasis in a huge casino, glad we made it in! a fine amber color to this, looks fairly polished with some shine and an average off white head of big bubbles on it. the nose here is nutty, almond to me, dark bread and molasses but not that sweet, kilned malt warmth, hearty but not heavy, slight herbaceous hops and a hint of orange from them, but not bitter really at all, good minerality, slight raisin or fig fruitiness too, autumnal and appealing, nice and fresh here at the source. caramel and bread crusts in the flavor, mid palate brown sugar sweetness is quickly resolved, and there is a cooler fermented element to this, like its brisk for being so malty, medium bodied and real flavorful, light pine and citrus as it warms from the hops, bran and bread pudding notes earlier, pretzel and toast later, i think the flow here is nice, i can appreciate it as an altbier, especially in the mouthfeel, and i think theyve packed quite a lot in. solid offering overall, with four season appeal and nice with spicy food!

Red tinged amber with thin head on the pour, some lacing. Smell: toasted and caramel malts, little bit of hops. Taste: lots of toasted and some caramel malts, hops for balance, little bit of graininess, something a little heavier at the end (but not the chocolate taste they claim will be there). Mouthfeel: light to medium bodied, fairly smooth with nice carbonation, could be a little more serious in body. Drinkability: a nice alt, would be fine with having another.
