Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a blackish coloring with ruby highlights, and a tan halo of head. Nose of extremely muted roasted notes, and a subtle sweetness. Flavors are richly sweet and dark forward, with fig, date, raisin, smoke, and earthy highlights. Heavily rich flavors forward, which decreases the drinkability a bit. Roasted and smoky characteristics come in a bit later on a slick, oily body. The aftertaste is heavily roasted, with toasted grains lingering in the backbone. Smooth, slick finish. Meh.
