Very dark, glossy and sleek. Almost no head, pours one out but it fades far too leave a thin disc of fine sandy foam atop the black liquid breath. Smell is outstanding; very roasty and slightly sweet, almost like a baked pastry. Maybe a hint of soy sauce ummani-like character. More than I expected from a local, very small brewed schwartz. Taste is quite nice, maybe a slight disappointment from what the smell hinted at. Less sweet, more balanced with a healthy hops dose. Unsweetened chocolate notes come at the end, going well with the pnw hops- characteristics. Very balanced tests make for a mature schwartz. Very good, more adult than say, the kidd from Fart Collins. Less swet chocolate, more earthy savory flavors.

On tap at Front Range BBQ...
Ink black; thin, wispy head. No standout aroma. Dark grain char combined with some sweet caramel and maybe crystal malts; mild bitterness. Medium body; creamy and smooth; gentle sweetness on the palate.
A decent Schwarzbier with some chocolate notes.

Pours like a true schwarzbier, dark with medium, light brown head. I taste chocolate with a roasted coffee finish. I poured all but the last swig in a tasting glass and it tastes very smooth. The last bit had a stronger roasted finish. Very delicious and will have again.
