Consumed 05/11/08 at Chicago Brewing Co. & Cigar Lounge, Las Vegas.
Reddish-amber beer with only a tiny little bit of foam for a head.
Oddly, I didn't pick up an aroma from this one.
Flavor is tart and sour cherries and a hint of cheese. Nothing else I can detect. Almost lambic-like in its flavor profile. Don't see how this can be a tripel as claimed by BA users.
Not a terribly pleasing beer, but interesting for a change. Makes a nice palate cleanser, anyway!

This beer came poured a clear cranberry color with no head. Smells of light belgium yeast, with a light cherry aroma as well. This, watery, almost gummy cherry flavor, and a touch of belgium character as well. Very thin and bland overall. Not terrible, but not worth recommending.

Appearance: reddish amber in color with a short 1" head that falls quickly. No lacing develops.
Smell: cherries and spices are easily detectable.
Taste: one of the more complex beers I have had at Chicago. Mildly tart cherries, belgian spicy yeast, fruit sweetness, and a hidden malty flavor are the main flavors. Bitterness is very soft, but there is a sharp dryness here too.
Mouthfeel: lightly crisp at the start, smooth and dry at the finish. Medium bodied. Aftertaste is long on the tartness and dryness.
Drinkability: decent. A definite enjoyable change from the standard offerings. Open mind is a must.

Served on tap, poured into glass mug for some reason, definitely not the right glassware. Strong smell of cherries however smells very syrup-like. Almost like a cough syrup. Amber in color and very little head. Sweet malty taste, cherries present but not as dominate as in the smell. Low carbonation and almost creamy feel to it. 8.5% ABV is disguised well, however still not the most drinkable. Bartender seemed to know his beer (other than glassware) and said it was a Tripel, judging by its characteristics I'd agree. Not a bad beer but not their best by far.
