Appearance: Poured a cloudy orange with a pinkish tint and thin white head on top.

Smell: Very fruity nose with notes of general citrus, orange, banana, and a lasting sweetness.

Taste: Gumballs, apple, sweet Hawaiian bread, and a spicy wheat flavor. Very well done and well balanced.

Mouthfeel: Clean on the palate with a nice lingering aftertaste.

Drinkability: The sheer volume of flavor coming out of this beer makes it a great beer to drink. The flavor is lively all the way through and very satisfying.

Presentation: Mug #1 of #9, imbibed as part of a 4oz Sampler arrangement during a recent visit to the Chicago Brewing Pub in Las Vegas with BA’s UncleJimbo, DukeofEarl and his friend Ozzie.

Listed as Ultimate Weiss, and as a regular house brew.

Appearance: Hazed golden body easily punctuated by the light in the sampler giving a rather thinner look than expected, though it had a much more substantial deep turbid lemon-gold body in the pint Glass. Thin white head on this one.

Smell: Freshly sliced banana and watermelon mixed in with cloves. Immense luscious fruity tones add terrific character to this Hefe, to the extent that I detected minimal yeast in the nose at all. Beautiful aromas.

Taste: Equally as good as the nose, which is great, it’s a mouth watering roller coaster ride is this one. Moist refreshing water melon, lots of banana and cloves with some hints of lemon and a low contribution from the yeast, which I have to say is rather clever, as it retains a traditional Hefe feel throughout but is never yeast-heavy like some can so easily become. Spicy banana split finish on the tongue. Very Moorish.

Mouthfeel: Fantastic thick fruity feel intertwined in a rather average body. Lots of water laden fresh fruits give a hydrating feel.

Drinkability: This is one of those brews where they could give away the 4oz Sampler for free, because I am sure everyone would then buy at least another two pints of this one again. *Extremely* quaffable, refreshing and very, very tasty!

Overall: Bloody Good, this is most certainly not you run of the mill Brewpub Hefe, far from it.

Appropriately named and Highly Recommended.

Arrived looking extremely cloudy and hazy, gold in color, with a thin 1/4" head. Some mild lacing developed. The aroma was super, as strong banana, clove, and wheat were all easily detectable and really pleased the nose. The taste was nice as the banana tones were strong, cloves and spice were slighlty behind, and the grass and wheat tones finished the flavors.

The mouthfeel smooth with a light dry finish, where the banana was still prevelent. Lighter in body, and very drinkable. Just wished the brew looked a little better in the glass as this would have received a higher overall score.

in the middle of getting my beer poured the keg died, so they changed kegs and i got the first pull off a fresh keg. it poured a nice deep orange/yellow, very cloudy with a nice white head that left a lace throughout the drinking session. huge aromas of banana, and some citrus and bready notes as well. the taste is amazing, huge banana smack with a strong wheaty backbone. lighty sweet and oh so refreshing. this was by far the best mug id ever had of this stuff, maybe it was the fresh keg but man it was good. the mouthfeel was perfect, with just the right amount of light carbonation. i could drink these all night, and starting at midnight 22oz mugs are 2 bucks a pop, so you CAN drink it all night.

note: i drink this on a regular basis and it has become alot more consistant. i havent had an "off" mug in ages. huge banana smack and all the wheatiness one could want. awesome.

This beer poured a very, very cloudy yellow with very good white foam that persisted and left lace on the glass. The smell was fruity bananas with some wheat too. The taste was fruity (bananas) and wheaty and yeasty. The mouthfeel was very smooth and creamy. This hefeweizen was full bodied but was light and refreshing. The drinkability was very good. A refreshing brew. The menu says that this Bavarian Hefe-weizen is brewed with a special yeast brought from Germany.

I sampled this beer again on April 19th, 2003, and it was hard for me to believe this was the same hefeweizen. The color was darker, the smell was more subdued, the taste was muted. Perhaps this time it was near the end of the batch?

For this latest tasting I give it: 3.5/3.5/4.0/4.0/4.0

Sampled again on August 18th, 2003. It was consistent with my original review.
