Sweet, spiced, estery, somewhat fruity with hints of banana. Very nice!

12/15/17: At Ellis Island Brewery and Casino on Koval, $2.50 plus tip, large flute served with orange wedge. Very light body, cloudy straw colour, generous white cloudy head. Nominal wheat aroma beyond the orange slice, taste very light, lemon and wheat. Very thin and smooth drinking. Overall good offering, my favorite from Ellis Island Brewery.

"Ellis Island Hefe Weiss" [sic]. Reviewed from notes taken for a draught pour @ Ellis Island Casino in Summer 2012.
Ellis Island's bartender served this with a lemon, which I think speaks to the brewery's awareness and care for tradition (or lack thereof).
APPEARANCE: Head is a half finger in height, beige in colour, with a decent consistency of some creaminess and thickness but horrid retention.
Body colour is a nontransparent hazy orange.
AROMA: Lemon and orange citrus esters are there, but feel vague and weak (and the lemon is probably from the lemon they served it with even though I pulled it out ASAP). Citrus zest. Clean wheat. Surprisingly aromatic phenols from the yeast. Moderate in strength.
TASTE: Orange peel, light lemon, vitaminy German yeast, milky murky wheat...there's some freshness to this beer's flavour to its credit. It's admittedly simple but nicely balanced and built as a refreshing hefeweizen for hot Nevada dessert days.
I like it.
It's a bit empty of flavour in the second act, but otherwise it's full-bodied and flavourful enough. No alcohol or other off-flavours are present.
TEXTURE: Smooth. Wet. Refreshing. Thin.
Suits the beer's flavours decently.
OVERA:L: Drinkable and enjoyable. I might get it again when around Ellis Island Casino. Its simplicity holds it back, sure, but it checks the boxes it needs to to satisfy style conventions. A nice little hefeweizen and a well priced one at that.

I've concluded, for many different reasons, I'd rather have a cocktail or a shot while in Vegas. But if you must have a beer, and a local one, this is a nice option.
