Ive been sitting on the bottle for about 3 years. Its actually been in my fridge since I bought it at Spirit Haus in Amherst.
Bottle says it was filled on 11-7-2017 after being brewed in 2015.
Im pouring the beer into my snifter, still cold after taking it out of the fridge. Black wax on the cap.
The cap comes off easy and the beer pours a dark cola color from the bottle and rests in my glass a black coffee hue, with no light passing through.
A dense creamy tan head of .5 cm foams up and is fed by some active streams of carbonation causing the surface foam to ripple. Almost seems like fish swimming under duckweed on the surface of a pond. the bubbles shimmy around on the surface and the foam does not fade to less than a sturdy surface layer.
The aroma on this beer is dark chocolate and some light coffee notes with a decent hit of whiskey still too. I also get some molasses scent but no hops and not really any hot alcohol notes either.
The first sip reveals a lighter than expected body and thinner texture, with fine tingly carbonation. Beer drinks really easy , but does feel thin for the style.
Flavor is good and similar to the nose. I get dark chocolate and molasses up front with a bit of whiskey note following and some dark fruit hit, that reminds me of raisins. Not really any coffee hits and the booze is again well hidden. Hops are also absent.
I enjoy the flavors of this beer and find it easy to drink, but could use a bit more body to really up this beer quality.

Being a breakfast stout I thought I was going to get more of the coffee flavors but the whiskey dominated the palate. I also love whiskey, so it was still a fantastic beer but a lot less breakfasty than I expected. I have never tried the non-barrel aged version but this beer was a great example of a barrel aged imperial stout should be! Great job guys.
