German-style refillable growler filled at People's Pint on 10/23/04, enjoyed on 10/28/04.

First imperial pint glass pours with a dense 3/4" milk chocolate head, which faded down to milky, bubbly film with a few minutes. Laces well. Oh-so-dark, barely lets the desk light's glow through the darkest brown hued brew, with a sweet dark malty aroma that hints at coffee and chocolate. Taste is upfront dark malts, with coffee dominant, but sweet undertones and touches of hops fighting to smooth everything out. As noted by others, very dry, as the style suggests. Mouthfeel is good, but I bet it would kick some on cask, and with three beer engines at The Pint, a better than average chance, I would think. Drinkability is good as well. Another good brew from The Pint.

Sampled on cask at NERAX. (OG 1045, ABV 4.2%)
"Broadfork is a dry stout. Deep mahogany in color. Brewed with 8 different malts, it has a coffee-like bitterness."

This stout poured a very dark brown/black color with good, tan foam from cask. The smell was a rich, roasted malt aroma. The taste was dominated by the dark malt flavors (some coffee and chocolate and caramel). The mouthfeel was smooth, creamy, clean, and dry, but with a bit of astringency. The body was medium. This was a good, drinkable stout.
