I found this to be overpowering; very sugary - too sugary. It just tasted off balance and I could barely get 4oz down.

I was informed that they usually age it for a year, but this was a fresh keg. The alcohol had been upped to 10% as well.

Looks good, nice head atop a ruby-brown body. Sticky lacing make trails down the sides.

Smell is strong... alcohol is very present above some ripe fruit and hop esters.

Taste... no alcohol to speak of, just rich chewy malt and well balanced with the hops. Goes down pretty well.

At 10% and not being aged, this will knock you back a bit. I'll have to try some when it's had some time to really come of age.

Nice white head subsides quickly. Deep crimson color with low carbonation. Aroma is mild with few fusels or esters. Flavor is sweet with a low amount of hop flavors present. Hops are present only to detract from the malty sweetness. This beer has a lingering hop bitterness that is unpleasent to me. It is definetly a barleywine though i believe it needs to be aged a bit more to increase the roundness of flavor.
