one of my favorite great basin beers we encountered across visits to two of their breweries. its a pale base beer, packed honey colored and reasonably lively, packed with rye malt and fresh rosemary, really cool ingredient pairing here, and i think the executions is awesome. its also cool to get such unique flavor into a beer that also remains this drinkable, a total drinker for me, the right amount of intrigue and easy, really dug this, especially with some richer and heavier food in here, these guys have quite the menu! the nose is cool because the earthy dry spicy rye is evident, as is the rosemary, not overpowering and all essential oily, but distinct and identifiable easily, pine to it, sort of feigns also being hoppy, real fresh and herbaceous, with a little generic malt sweetness in support. the flavor is similar, its rye and rosemary, almost exclusively, not a lot of other grain character, nothing of significance in the ferment, i feel like this would also make a very good bread loaf. no real bitterness, or any thats here is balanced, and the rye is almost peppery as this warms, such a great match. medium bodied and smooth feeling, not as aggressive on the tongue as some high rye beers can be, and the rosemary is tastefully proportioned and doesnt stay on my palate much past the swallow. this must have appeared pretty avant garde in its time, still very original. real enjoyable pint!
