tropical kettle sour on tap at their reno location, a neat beer, relatively clean on the souring, but a little sweet on the fruit side, maybe some lactose too, although not brutally dosed, it does present as kind of candied and maybe less authentic, even if real fruit was used. pineapple, cherry, and lemon in this, a fine combination where all three elements make an equal contribution to me. pinkish in the glass but a little murky and dull too, short head but fizzy like a soda from the tap. aroma here is tart cherry and lemon, they play off each other very well, the pineapple is juicy and acidic too, and they all pop at different moments, pineapple first, cherry in the middle, lemon late, and that is true in the flavor too, where it starts kind of sugary with the pineapple, gets lactic and tart in the middle, and has some lemon rind bitterness late, but also some on the teeth finishing sweetness like sour candy. not a whole lot of flavor from the grain but it does have some body, maybe a little stronger and fuller than it needs to be, not delicate. cherry comes out more as it warms, an almost brine minerality to the acid profile too which both makes this unique a little bit but also makes it feel a tad sloppy and unintentional. the lemon lingers longest, seems honest, peppy and tangy overall. good not great, in need of some refinement, but a fun combination of fruit in this. the only sour beer ive seen or had from these guys to date...
