Remember the Belgian Black Cherry? We took the beer, without the cherries, and put it into bourbon barrels. This sour ale has a lot going on – roasted malt, dark fruit, and a lactic sourness, combined with vanilla from the oak and bourbon.

Dark pour, substantial thickness immediately noticeable, brings a half inch of brown head. Plenty enjoyable sweet bourbon nose, cherry, dark, and lactic sourness.
Taste presents the vanilla immediatley, the cherry is very dark, the chocolate is average. Mouthfeel just keeps getting silkier. Leans heavy on the barrel, lesser on the sour.

A dark brown pour, but without the viscosity one is accustomed to seeing with such a high SRM level. Actually had 1/2" of head on it, most wild ales seem to be lacking in that department. Nice sweet bourbon aroma that is Heaven Hill, tried and true. Along with that, some cherry notes, mild sour aroma. Nice.
The taste gets more complex from there, the vanilla gets decently prominent, oak is underneath it all. The taste is more bourbon than sour. But it really is balanced nicely between the dark cherry, vanilla, bourbon, sweet and sour notes. This is comparable to Vlad the Impaler from Cascade, a nice alternative when there's no Vlad around. Not as good, but that's kind of the benchmark for style. This is a little more barrel than that, + cherry, and less sour notes, and nowhere near as strong.
Overall, it far exceeded my expectations. One of my top 3 beers made in Nevada.
