The colour is copper; the liquid clear. The finger thick head is off white. Some lacing occurs.
The smell is very hoppy with distinct American notes of citric fruits, sweet caramel and dry minerals. A bit too simple, perhaps?
The flavours are strong in this one: Lots of fresh American hops, sweet notes of caramel and fruit candy. Some hints of lemon and lime. Full bodied. The taste is fresh and rich and very American (I come to think of North Coast Red Seal). Salt-sour hints in the aftertaste with quite a lot of lemon (and lemon peels), a delicate sweetness and some caramel malt. The bitter flavours are long lasting.
The carbonation is light; the small bubbles are very fresh. The liquid is semi-smooth.
A very tasty and fresh APA.
