From the land of myths and legends. Coalition is pleased to present Culchie's Tipple, a specialty Irish Red Ale for St. Paddy's Day! Specialty malt from Irish maltster Loughran, creates the base of this extremely drinkable red. Aromatics of malt and fruit intermingle with the soft mouthfeel and malt sweetness up front. An addition of flaked barley and biscuit malt lend a toasty and bready notes to balance the malt sweetness. Light aromatics and flavors of noble hops round out this tasty specialty brew. Coming in at 5.0% ABV, this is the perfect beer to have a few tipples of this St. Paddy's Day! Slainte!

On tap at Old Chicago in Tanasbourne last night. I have to admit that this isn't a style I typically care for, and that I ordered this beer expecting something hoppy.
A clear deep mahogany red with a dark brown head with good retention and lacing. The nose is decent. A noticeable malt character with toffee, butterscotch, a little honey, a mild brown sugar and caramel note, along with an earthy, leafy, uniquely English hop character is present. The palate opens mildly bitter with earthy, leafy hops before a moderate malt character takes over. Brown sugar, toffee and butterscotch are present. Drying and firmly hoppy on the finish, Light in body and softly carbonated, this beer is decent.
