A brew in our Pale Ale Series, this ale is brewed and dry hopped exclusively with Citra hops, a new variety gaining huge popularity among craft brewers. Notably citrusy, but also with complex fruit notes of guava and strawberry, this Pale is delicate and well balanced.

Reddish orange appearance, wow, the malt is a little much for something citra already. Aroma had too much maltiness competing with the sparsely used citra hop.

Taste dropped plenty of bitterness, which isn't really Citra's calling. I wonder if Citra is like 5% of the hop bill and its a ton of Cascades over that. So much English pale malt vibe going on, or even more considering the color. If you go in thinking Citra bomb, you're gonna be disappointed. Still good, unique, the higher malt bill with Citra and all.

Initially thought they brought me the Red Roadster, their red ale. This is a huge red appearance, nothing fitting the style description of a 'pale ale'. Aroma was imparting a good hop rate, but plenty of crystal and especially English malt to give it that red ale aroma at the same time.

Plenty of bitterness on the tongue, but it isn't a one trick pony, it is allowed to come through as a fresher hop mouthfeel than most beers with English, maris otter and crystal will often allow. Tasted a little spicy as if there was rye, which I know there was not, but the mouthfeel was as if.

Overall a scary experience to look at when you order a a pale ale, but it fits a big hybrid type of beer. It is made somewhere between an English pale, ipa and red ale from its malt bill, but then they use the decidedly American and West Coast Citra hop for it.

Ultimately, a worthy foray.
