May 2011: 500 ml bottle, from Dagli’brugsen Skødstrup. ABV is 6.5%. Some sediment in the bottle. Black colour, large brown head. The aroma has notes of coffee, bonfires and smoked meat. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of mild coffee and smoked meat, a touch of fruit and chocolate in the finish. Hints of liquorice in the aftertaste, but only after a while. Decent stuff, but maybe a bit too much smoked malts for an otherwise smooth and tender stout.

The colour is almost black (100 EBC), the liquid is clear. There is yeast in the bottle. The four finger head is compact and brown. It sinks slowly leaving some lacing on the glass.
The smell is a bit smokey, reminding of delicatessen and smoked cheese. Roasted creamy malts, some sweet chocolate and a touch of dough. Clean bitterness with a hint of chloride.
The taste is smooth and very balanced. Hints of smoke (Bamberg style) meets smooth sweet flavours, roasted notes of nuts and coffee plus some milk chocolate. Medium body. The aftertaste brings more bitterness and sweet lactose notes. It is surprisingly light. No smoke, but some mild bitterness and a touch of grilled meat in the finish.
The carbonation is mild, the many bubbles very small. The liquid is a bit light.
Lots of flavours and a fine balance, just at 6.5 %. I like.

The beer is black, pitch black, has a brown slightly uneven head, some lacing and good curtains.
Smells of dark dried fruit, and a whiff of forest fire.
Starts sweet, brown sugar, burnt bread, some fig and dates, oranges and cured meat. A slightly dough character.
Little carbonation, soft but rather fresh texture, rather small body, not dry.
A nice rather interesting composition, but not really above average.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is a mix of roasted malt with a little bit of something else which I can't ID, but it does not go well with the malt. The flavor is better. I get a lot of cocoa, chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. I also get some grassyness from the hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice stout.
